riverside full and partial dentures

In our previous blog, we looked at treating minor tooth loss with a dental bridge. But what if your tooth loss is too advanced to be addressed with a bridge? In these cases, our team can offer full smiles with full and partial dentures. In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about our custom and durable dentures!

The Impact of Advanced Tooth Loss

We could lose our teeth to various factors, from untreated tooth decay and infection to injury. Periodontitis, the advanced stage of gum disease, is the most common factor behind adult tooth loss. But when you lose several teeth, even the majority of them, you need to seek replacement to prevent complications with your oral health. Otherwise, you could find yourself limited in your meal options. You could also have trouble speaking clearly. Tooth loss could increase the risk of issues like misalignment, TMJ disorder, and even bruxism (teeth grinding). But our team can provide a new smile to avoid these complications!

Partial Dentures

A partial denture helps cases in which people have multiple missing teeth, with gaps spread out across the arch of your smile. Essentially, too complex for a bridge but not severe enough for a full prosthetic. The prosthetic will contain new lifelike ceramic teeth set in an acrylic base that mimics the appearance of gum tissues. The new teeth fit in the gaps in your smile and metal clasps, which remain invisible when the prosthetic is in place, will attach to natural teeth and secure your partial in place.

Complete Dentures

What if you have lost most or all of your teeth? Then we may need to extract the last few and then take digital images and measurements so we can design and craft a custom full denture. The complete prosthetic will contain a full set of new teeth set in an acrylic base. Suction or adhesives can keep the new teeth in place, and your prosthetic can last for five to ten years on average.
