temecula dentures

In our last blog, we talked about how a custom bridge could be the right solution for minor tooth loss. But what about cases in which several teeth, or all of them, are gone? In these cases, you may need a set of full or partial dentures. On today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about custom dentures and how they restore your smile!

The Dangers of Advanced Tooth Loss

You could lose the majority of your smile to issues like periodontitis, the advanced stage of gum disease. As you lose teeth, this could weaken the jaw and increase the risk of further tooth loss. Once your smile is missing so many natural teeth, this could limit your meal options and deprive your body of essential nutrients, as you are forced to rely on soft foods. You could have difficulties with speaking clearly and may avoid social interactions out of embarrassment. But our team can provide a full and beautiful smile again with a full or partial set of dentures.

Partial Dentures

If you have lost several teeth spread out across your smile, but still have enough natural teeth that a full set of dentures is not needed, we could offer a partial. Our team will examine your smile and take detailed digital images and measurements, which we use to create a 3D impression of your bite. With this, we can design and craft your denture. The partial will contain new ceramic teeth that we shade to blend with your smile and fit in the gaps. The teeth are attached to an acrylic base that looks like gum tissue, and will be held in place with metal clasps.

Full Dentures

If you are missing most of your teeth, we could extract the last few and take detailed images and measurements to design and craft a complete set of dentures. The prosthetic will contain a full row of new ceramic teeth in an acrylic base, and suction or an adhesive will keep it in place. We could also discuss securing them with dental implants to offer an option that lasts longer and helps prevent the jaw from losing mass and density.
