woodcrest mouthguard

If you or a family member regularly plays full contact sports, then you know there is always a risk of injury to your face or jaw. This could crack or chip a tooth, or even knock one out completely! But to lower the risk of injury, your Riverside Dental Group team could provide custom vinyl Pro-Form mouthguards.

Pro-Form vs. Boil-And-Bite

Many kids and adults pick up boil-and-bite mouthguards from sporting goods stores to wear when playing sports or engaging in other activities where there is a risk of damage to the teeth. While these are helpful, they don’t provide the same level of protection as a more custom approach.

Each of our Pro-Form mouthguards are crafted from two layers of laminated vinyl, and include a special lingual plate that will sit behind the incisors. This unique design helps better distribute pressure and safeguard the teeth against injury. The use of laminated vinyl means they can hold their shape better and for longer periods, so everyone enjoys a better layer of protection against cracked, chipped, or knocked-out teeth.

The Benefits of Custom Mouthguards

The custom approach means that teens and adults alike enjoy better protection against a tooth being chipped, cracked or knocked loose/out. But this device can also limit the risk of injuries to the interior of the cheeks and to the gums. They have been shown to also limit injuries such as jaw fractures, and even concussions. Along with protecting teeth, they also help prevent damage to orthodontics, and could last as long as a full year. Our patients also appreciate that they can come in custom colors!

Dental Emergency Treatment

We recommend these to help prevent dental emergencies. But if you have a tooth that is nurd or knocked out, we want you to contact our team right away. We will try to see you same-day if possible, and if you reach us outside of our normal business hours, leave a message so we can reach out with possible appointment times quickly. If you have any questions about our Pro-Form mouthguards, or about our approach to emergency dental care, then contact our team today to learn more.
