corona pediatric dentistryTo help kids, from babies and toddlers to teens, we can offer pediatric dentistry. We want to help prevent cavities, keep teeth strong, and even take on dental misalignment. In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about how we can help smiles of all ages with pediatric dentistry.

Checkups and Cleanings

We want to see kids of all ages every six months. A checkup means we can monitor the smile and catch potential issues early, such as tooth decay, and prevent infection and the risk of premature tooth loss. In the same visit, we also clean the teeth to remove plaque and tartar from the smile, which helps lower the risk of cavities and gingivitis too.

Fluoride and Dental Sealants

Our team can offer treatments to help lower the risk of cavities and keep little smiles strong. As part of your child’s six-month visit, we can apply fluoride to the teeth to keep the outer enamel strong and make cavities less likely. We also have dental sealants, which we apply to the rear teeth. Once sealants are applied, this prevents food and drink particles from being caught between hard-to-reach rear teeth, lowering the risk of cavities there for years to come! With both options, application only takes seconds, and kids just need to avoid food and drink for about a half-hour as the material fully cures.

Interceptive Orthodontics

If your child begins to show signs of dental misalignment, we can offer help for kids as young as age seven. With Interceptive Orthodontics, also known as Phase One Orthodontics, we can help guide the growth of the smile to limit the severity of misalignment, meaning kids will have less time with braces or aligners in their teen years. These orthodontics could include space maintainers to keep areas open if baby teeth are lost prematurely, so the permanent teeth can erupt. Our exam also has custom retainers, either fixed or permanent, so we can help guide the growth of the smile. A custom approach means treatment with comfort and experience too!
