When you need oral surgery, conscious sedation will be used for your comfort. Unlike general anesthesia, you will be awake and able to respond. This is crucial because you must be able to respond to your dental team if necessary. However, you should not feel any discomfort during the process.
Recovery After Oral Surgery
Your dentist will give you specific guidelines for your recovery period. There are a few general rules, though. Do not smoke during this time, as it can harm the procedure area. You should avoid drinking beverages as well, as it can cause dry sockets. Lastly, eat softer foods and take medications as prescribed.
