riverside prosthetic dentistry

Missing teeth can occur for a number of reasons, and lack of treatment could lead to major complications in your oral health and quality of life. But we can address these gaps with a lifelike dental prosthetic. In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about how we correct tooth loss.

The Causes and Dangers of Tooth Loss

We could lose our teeth to issues like injury, tooth decay and infection, or in most cases, periodontal disease. When we lose our teeth, this could increase the risk of misalignment, TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding), and issues with our ability to eat our favorite foods or speak clearly. Our jawbone could even weaken due to tooth loss, causing further tooth loss and an older appearance. But we can return your smile to full function, health, and beauty with a dental prosthetic!

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a prosthetic that contains new teeth with crowns attached to each end. Made from ceramic, this looks natural and can handle daily bite forces. We can use bridges to address between one and three missing teeth in a row. These can last up to 15 years!

Full and Partial Dentures

If you have more advanced tooth loss, then we may recommend a set of dentures. If you have multiple gaps spread out across your smile, this could be too severe for a bridge but you may not need a full. With a partial denture, we can craft a prosthetic that fills these gaps and remains firmly in place. A full denture can replace every tooth on one or both arches, and is held in place with suction or adhesives. Both of these options are custom-made to ensure a lifelike appearance and a comfortable fit and a balanced bite. They tend to last about 5 to 10 years before replacement is needed.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are inserted into the jaw and act like new roots, so they can stimulate the growth of jawbone structure and also ensure your new teeth last decades to come, possibly a lifetime. We can place an individual one, or use several to support a bridge or even a fixed set of dentures.
