riverside bracesWhen you have a severe case of misalignment you may assume your smile cannot be corrected. But with traditional braces, we can take on more severe cases of uneven teeth! In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about correcting your smile with our traditional metal braces.

The Risks of Serious Misalignment

Do you have major misalignment, which could include crooked, crowded, or even overlapping teeth? If so, then you need to seek treatment. Poor alignment could impact your bite balance and lead to painful complications like TMJ disorder and even bruxism (chronic teeth grinding). Uneven teeth could make thorough brushing and flossing more difficult, which increase the risk of complications like tooth decay and even gum disease. You could also feel embarrassed about your appearance, which could mean negative impacts on your social life. But we can help, as metal braces allow us to treat the more severe cases for teens and adults!

Our Traditional Braces

For teens, we will start the process once all permanent teeth have erupted and has time to properly calcify. For adults, we can begin when you are ready! In fact, now is a great time to get treated because you can use any remaining 2025 dental benefits before they disappear, and greet a new year on the path to a new smile!

With traditional braces, we will connect metal brackets to the front facing side of each tooth. We then connect a portion of a thin arch wire to each bracket with a band. We may also connect portions of the upper and lower jaw with additional bands.

Correcting Your Smile

When we connect your orthodontics, you will return to the office for periodic visits so we can adjust tension in the wire to begin shifting the etch into proper position. The process could take about two years for teens and adults, but can straighten smiles and offer a more attractive appearance and better oral health too. If you have any questions about how we correct uneven smiles with our metal braces, or if you would like to see if your dental benefits can help, then reach out to our team today!
