When you have an uneven smile, this could lead to poor oral health and of course, negative impacts on the appearance of your smile. But we can help your smile with a more cosmetic approach instead of metal braces. In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about the Invisalign® system!
The Need for Taking on Your Misalignment
When you have even minor misalignment this could pose a risk for your overall oral health. The difficulty thoroughly brushing and flossing could allow particles of sugar to remain trapped on or between the teeth, which increases the risk of issues like tooth decay and even gum disease, as well as bad breath and teeth stains. Poor alignment could be a stress on your jaw joints and make the onset of TMJ disorder and even bruxism (teeth grinding) more likely. You could also simply feel uncomfortable with your smile’s appearance. If you have concerns about how braces will impact your professional appearance, then talk to our team about help with Invisalign®.
The Invisalign® Process
Invisalign® can help both teen and adult patients, and doesn’t involve the use of metal brackets and wires at all. Instead of braces, we will use a series of clear aligners, which are nearly invisible, in appearance and fit snugly over the teeth. Each set then moves your smile closer and closer to an even state. These are also removable! Which means you can take them out before meals instead of changing your diet. The removable nature also makes brushing and flossing much easier, so your risk of cavities and periodontal concerns during treatment is much lower.
Correcting Your Uneven Smile
Our team will begin by gathering detailed images of your bite with an intraoral camera, a fast and comfortable process, and using them to make 3D impressions of your bite. Experts will use the images and measurements in a dental lab setting to design and craft your aligners. When they are ready, you will receive a series of them and wear each set for about two weeks, 20 to 23 hours a day on average. For some, optimal smiles could be possible in as little as one year!
