corona teeth whiteningIf you have stained teeth that need treatment, we can help with a professional cosmetic solution. Our team is proud to offer both in-office and at-home teeth whitening treatments. In today’s blog, your team at Riverside Dental Group talks about how we choose the best whitening solution for you!

Whitening Teeth In-Office

If you have surface stains, we can often help with a simple in-office teeth whitening procedure, which can provide results in as little as one to two hours. You leave after one visit with a much brighter smile! The process involves applying a protective covering over your lips and gums, and then placing a powerful bleaching gel onto the surfaces of your teeth. A light is then used to activate the gel and break up your teeth stains. If needed, we can repeat the process to truly brighten your smile! If you have more severe staining, we could offer a take-home alternative.

Brightening Smiles from Home

For people with more severe surface stains, or minor intrinsic discoloration that form under the enamel, we could offer a take-home kit. The procedure begins with an initial visit to the office, where we will take impressions of your bite to create custom plastic trays. We then send these trays home with you, along with bleaching gel. At home, you add gel to the trays and wear them for a specific amount of time per day, which could be as little as an hour a day or possibly overnight. This can then break up discoloration and brighten your teeth up by to eight shades in as little as a week to ten days.

Masking Stains with Bonding and Veneers

If you happen to have discoloration too severe to be addressed with whitening, we can still brighten your smile. We could apply bonding in the form of a composite resin to mask the stains and brighten your smile in one visit. We also have veneers, thin restorations that cover the front of the teeth to mask discoloration and other cosmetic imperfections. For some, these two options or a combination of them could be used to conduct a smile makeover!
