Restorative dentistry provides a way to repair teeth and protect them from painful complications and the risk of tooth loss. We can do this with our full and partial dental crowns, which we custom-make for your bite. In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about helping smiles with restorative dentistry, including custom restorations like crowns and inlays and onlays.
When Teeth Need Custom Restorations
When should you approach our team about restorative dentistry? Well, if you begin to experience pain in a tooth, whether this is sensitivity when you eat or drink, or a full-fledged toothache, let us know. This persistent sensitivity and pain could be due to a cavity or even the early stages of infection, and you need care to avoid more severe pain or even tooth loss. If you have a tooth that is injured, even if the chip or crack appears minor. Let us know. Even minor injuries could leave your smile at risk for cavities and infection, and we can help with custom restorations!
Inlays and Onlays
If you have an issue too severe for a filling or bonding procedure, but you don’t yet need a complete dental crown, we could offer a partial in the form of an inlay or onlay. These are custom-made from durable and lifelike ceramic, and the inlay fits in between the cusps on top of the teeth, while the only fits over the cusps.
Dental Crowns
If you have a more severe issue, then we could cap the tooth with a dental crown. The full restoration process involves numbing the tooth and then gently removing outer structure to accommodate the restoration. We then take images and impressions of the tooth with digital technology, using it to design and craft your custom restoration from lifelike and durable materials, such as ceramic or zirconia. When your crown is ready, we will attach it with a powerful bonding agent, supporting it for years to come!
If you have any questions about how we treat serious oral health concerns with restorative dentistry, or if you have a tooth that could benefit from a full or partial crown, then contact our team today to learn more and start your treatment journey!
