corona dentures

Tooth loss beyond a missing tooth or a few teeth in a row will require more than a bridge or an individual dental implant. Instead, you will need a set of full or partial dentures. In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about how we will secure a set of custom and lifelike dentures, so you can smile without hesitation again and feel confident in social situations!

When You Need A Dental Prosthetic

When do we recommend a prosthetic for our patients? If you have multiple gaps spread out across your smile, this complex case of tooth loss could be addressed with a partial set of teeth. If you have lost most or all of your teeth, then we could recommend a full set. You need to address your missing teeth because otherwise this could limit your meal options and deny you essential nutrients too. Missing teeth could also lead to misalignment and an increased risk of TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). Issues with clear speech and embarrassment in social situations are common. The jaw could also weaken and erode, as the body stops sending essential nutrients to the areas without tooth roots. But we can help with our dentures!

Removable Dentures

We will examine your smile and if necessary, extract any diseased or infected teeth. We then take impressions of your bite with digital technology, using the information we gather to design and craft a set of new teeth. The prosthetic will contain new teeth set in an acrylic base, designed to look natural and be able to handle daily bite forces. For a partial, there will be metal clasps that attach to natural teeth and secure the new teeth. With a full prosthetic, suction or adhesives will be used to help secure the new teeth in place. These will be removable and will require soaking and cleaning on a regular basis, and will last about 5 to 10 years.

Securing Them with Dental Implants

We could also insert dental implants into the jaw to support prosthetics, stimulating jawbone growth to prevent the loss of mass and density, allowing your new teeth to last decades or even a lifetime in some cases! If you have any questions about dentures, then contact our team today.
