riverside partial crowns

A cavity means we can help with a dental filling, and more severe damage or decay could require a crown. But what if you have an issue that is in between? In these situations, we could offer a partial crown. In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about our custom inlay and onlays!

When Teeth Need Dental Restoration

We want to offer a restoration when a tooth is cracked or chipped, even if the damage appears minor. In fact, if you stain a facial injury and don’t see damage, consider an appointment as fractures are usually invisible to the naked eye. Our team also wants to address tooth decay or infection, so if your tooth begins to hurt you should see us right away so we can offer relief and prevent the loss of your tooth. If you have a minor cavity or injury, we could use composite resin to repair the tooth in a filling or bonding procedure. If you have severe injuries, we could palace a full crown. For the situations that fall in between these cases, we could offer partial crowns, known as inlays and onlays.

Inlays and Onlays

These restorations will be crafted from ceramic, a durable material that we can shade to blend with the tooth and offer a more lifelike appearance. Each one custom-made for your smile. We will remove a small amount of structure from the tooth, using it to ensure you are comfortable throughout the process. We then take detailed images and measurements of your prepared tooth, which we use in a lab setting to create your custom dental restorations. The inlay will fit in between the cusps on top of your tooth, while the onlay will fit over these cusps.

Full Crowns

If you need a full crown, then we will again use ceramic, a holistic and lifelike material that can handle daily bite forces with ease, providing optimal results of your smile and ensuring a natural look. If you have any questions about how we restore smiles with our partial restorations, or if you may need a full crown, then contact our team today to learn more and get started.
