riverside teeth whitening

If you have teeth stains, we want to help remove them and ensure your smile can truly shine. With professional teeth whitening, we can offer in-office treatments or even a take-home kit. In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about professional teeth whitening treatments!

The Causes of Your Teeth Stains

How do teeth stains form on the surfaces of our smiles? For some, factors like a diet high in sugar and starch and lack of good brushing and flossing habits could allow buildup to form, which makes discoloration more visible. If you consume beverages with dark pigments, such as soda, red wine, coffee, and tea, this could discolor your smile. Use of tobacco products could also discolor your teeth. As part of the treatment process, we will examine your smile to assess the cause and severity of your teeth stains. Doing so helps us choose between our in-office and at-home treatments!

In-Office Teeth Whitening Treatment

Our in-office teeth procedure is perfect if you need results fast, as the entire process takes one to two hours. You arrive at our office and we will place a protective covering on your lips and gums. We then apply the bleaching gel to the teeth and activate it with a light. This breaks up and removes stains, and we can repeat the process as needed. If we find you have permanent teeth stains, which form beneath the outer enamel, we could discuss masking it with dental bonding in one visit, or with the placement of porcelain veneers, or a combination of the two.

Take-Home Whitening Kits

For people with more substantial surface stains, we could suggest our take-home teeth whitening kit. With this option, we will create a custom set of plastic trays, which we send home with you. We also provide multiple plastic syringes of a bleaching gel. At home, you add gel to the trays and wear them for a specific amount of time, usually about a half hour or an hour a day, over the course of about two weeks. For some, teeth could be up to eight shades brighter!
