Professional teeth whitening provides a way to ensure consistent and dramatic stain removal for our smiles, which is why we offer in-office and at-home options. Which one is right for you, and when should you see our team for cosmetic treatment? In today’s blog, your team at Riverside Dental Group talks about brightening your smile with professional teeth whitening.
Dramatic and Consistent Whitening
You can go to the store and pick up whitening strips or even toothpastes that provide whitening. While these can brighten your smile, the results tend to be less-than-dramatic and short-lived. If used improperly, you could risk the onset of tooth sensitivity. To help brighten your smile by several shades, our team could offer professional teeth whitening. In fact, we have two different procedures to choose from, an in-office option and a take-home kit. We will examine your smile to assess the cause and severity of your teeth stains, so we can choose which one is right for you!
In-Office and At-Home
Our in-office procedure is perfect if you need results quickly, such as before a first date or job interview. The entire process could take only one to two hours, and you leave our office with a significantly brighter smile. We will apply a powerful bleaching gel to the surfaces of your teeth and then use a special light to activate the gel and lift stains from your smile.
But we also have a take-home kit for more severe stains. You visit our office just long enough for our team to take images of your bite to create a custom set of plastic trays. We then send these trays home with you, accompanied by multiple plastic syringes of a special bleaching gel. At home, you add gel to the trays and wear them for a specific amount of time each day, over a period of about one to two weeks. For some, teeth could be several shades brighter!
Keeping Your Teeth Bright
To help keep your teeth bright, be sure you see us every six months for a cleaning, and at home take time to brush and floss. Try to avoid tobacco products and foods/drinks with a lot of sugar.
