If you have minor misalignment, need help in early childhood, or if you have recently had braces removed, then you may benefit from a retainer. We have a number of custom options available to help improve or maintain your smile! In today’s blog, your Riverside Dental Group team talks about our retainers.
The Causes of Misalignment
We want to help treat your uneven smile with orthodontics! For young children, we have interceptive orthodontics to help guide smile growth and limit poor alignment until they reach their teen years. For teens and adults, we could offer traditional and esthetic braces for more severe cases, or clear Invisalign® aligners for more minor cases. We can also help your smile with retainers! Remember, treating your poor alignment is a great way to lower the risk of tooth decay and gum disease, improve bite function, and help you smile with confidence again!
Help with Retainers
How do retainers help? We will custom-fit the oral appliance to your smile, crafting the appliance based on detailed digital images and impressions we take of your bite. The completed option will be made from wire and acrylic, and could be fixed in place or removable. These can help teens and adults who have had their braces removed, ensuring teeth stay in their new positions until the jawbone fully reforms, keeping smiles even. For children, these could be part of the interceptive process to guide the growth of the jaw and limit the onset of poor alignment, so kids may need less time with braces or aligners in the teen years. If you have a very minor case of misalignment, we could use retainers in lieu of braces or aligners to correct misalignment.
Cleaning Your Orthodontics
To help ensure the process is effective and protect your smile, we will discuss how to clean your removable or fixed orthodontics, keeping your smile healthy. We will also monitor your progress with periodic visits to our office! If you have any questions about how we take on alignment concerns with treatments, or if you think this could help you or your child, then please reach out to our team today to learn more!
