corona sedationDental sedation provides our team a method of ensuring even anxious patients or those with special needs can enjoy a comfortable time in the office. Which is why we’re so proud to offer a calming solution like oral conscious sedation! In today’s blog, your team at Riverside Dental Group talks about ensuring a comfortable appointment experience with dental sedation.

The Need for Calming

When do you need a calming option? We may recommend this for a patient who is undergoing a more extensive treatment option, such as wisdom tooth extraction or possibly dental implant placement. At the same time, if you have a real fear of the dentist, we can use this to ensure your time in the office is positive and comfortable. Likewise, we have options to help those with special needs that make undergoing dental care a difficult experience otherwise. Everyone deserves a positive experience in the office, and a healthy smile, and we are ready to help you and your family!

Preparing for Your Visit

If we decide that oral conscious sedation is right for you, we will likely schedule an appointment in the morning, so you can fast before the procedure. We want you to avoid food and drink for about six to eight hours. Be sure to wear loose and comfortable clothing, and you can bring a pillow or blanket if you like. Kids can even bring a favorite stuffed animal if that helps them feel more relaxed! Our team can experienced in helping patients of all ages, even those with anxiety, so they feel relaxed and heard when they talk about their concerns.

Oral Conscious Sedation

We will administer the calming agent in a pill or liquid form prior to the procedure, and you will enter a very deep state of calm, with little to no memory of the procedure at all. The effects will take a little time to wear off, so be sure someone is ready to take you home afterward. If you have any questions about how we ensure a comfortable appointment with oral conscious sedation, then contact our team today to learn more and get started!
