With six convenient locations throughout Riverside County, Riverside Dental Group strives to help our residents achieve optimal oral health. With the launch of our new blog, we can easily address common questions that our patients ask us. Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions provided by our team of dentists and dental professionals.
How Often Should I Brush My Teeth?
Our team, along with the American Dental Association, recommends that you brush your teeth at least twice a day for a minimum of two minutes. However, some patients brush their teeth more than twice a day—especially after eating.
Why Do I Need to Floss Every Day?
Flossing is one of the best ways to prevent the development of gum disease. When you floss your teeth daily, you disrupt colonies of bacteria that live along your gum line and help prevent tartar accumulation. Flossing also cleans your teeth and gums in places that your toothbrush can’t reach.
When Should I Visit the Dentist for Cleanings and Checkups?
You should visit our office for professional cleanings every six months and receive a dental examination once a year. Our dental hygienists will thoroughly and gently clean your teeth leaving a smooth, polished finish. Dental examinations may seem short; however, they are very important because our dentists provide a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health. We test for oral cancer, screen for gum disease, and use diagnostic technology to reveal cavities and other oral health problems.
Are Dental X-rays Safe?
Many patients express concern about X-ray radiation emissions. Did you know that you are exposed to minimal radiation every day? For example, living in a brick house emits a small amount of radiation. For dental X-rays, you are only exposed to a day’s amount of radiation. The ADA and the medical community in the United States support the use of dental X-rays for diagnostic purposes.
